Lumberjack's Kitchen Duncannon Reviews
This lumberjack is a nice feller Jan 02, 2016
A new restaurant as I write this (February, 2016), Lumberjack’s Kitchen used to operate under the name of Burgundy’s and sitting in an old structure where the back end is a rough and tumble biker bar, exuded a somewhat hostile personality. Lumberjack’s remains under the same ownership, but this family friendly redo is a refreshing change and I assure you will feel welcome the instant you enter.
They did a lovely job of updating the interior, which lends a relaxed aura. I particularly liked the separate parlor area. I suppose it is a waiting room if you cannot be seated immediately, but rarely do you find anything beyond a bench to park your impatient butt on. The parlor was decked out with holiday decorations, so doubly appealing.
Located on a barren stretch of highway that is in the middle of nowhere, I doubt they often have overflow crowds. There were clearly no worries about waiting on a chilly winter morning when Mom and I entered. Quickly seated and waited upon, the coffee was passable. I find restaurant coffee is burned 90% of the time, but this was not. Without qualifying as top shelf, it was a notch above the usual. Mom ordered some eggs and I got a meaty omelet. Service was quick and again, nothing special, but no disappointment, particularly at the reasonable price point.
Our waitress was friendly and remarkably poised for a place where you do not expect to find experienced staff. She struck a great balance of checking up when it was time to refill the mug without lording over us and drowning us with idle chit chat (unfortunately a common complaint of mine). All in all, a fine spot to score a decent meal!
