Lugano Hiker tips Reviews

Oct 29, 2007
Hello,
After spending a week hiking/back packing in Lugano here's some nice tips.

Camping:
- Camping is 12F per tent and 10F per person. The campgrounds are in Agano. The is a light rail that runs towards Agano from Lugano every 30 mins.
However its 5F each way on the light rail. So camping is really 30F per night.
- The campgrounds in Agano have really nice bathrooms.
- I found a youth hostel in Lugano for only 25F so I soon moved there.
- The hostel has nasty bathrooms.

Hiking:
- I did 3 majors hikes. Budget 30F a day for transportation. (Yes I know that a lot for public bus)

- See my blog for hike info.

In general I found the business' prices in Lugano reasonable. However I found the Lugano government seriously guilty of making public transport and maps ridiculously expensive. I paid $20 for a hiking map at the tourist office. FYI all Swiss residents only pay 1/2 price for public transport.
