In a strange town filled with restaurant choices, this fresh-mex joint was a breath of fresh air. The food was fresh, affordable, healthy and very, very good. I was happy to see a full-bar and a great outdoor patio to enjoy the local scenery, along with one of the best margaritas I have ever had! And it was all served-up by the nicest staff around. That includes the owner, Chuck, who I met there that day. I was told he is there almost every day, serving equal parts drinks & B.S. to the locals and tourists alike. On this day, I caught the tail-end of Happy Hour which runs from 2pm-6pm, w/ $1 turkey tacos, $2 Modelos, & $3 Margaritas. What a great way to spend an afternoon in Breck. I hear the evenings are fun too. Cheers to Lucha!

Lucha is great. It is just what Breckenridge needed. It is kinda like a Chipotle, but the food is much better, and better for you. They told me the calories and fat are like half! They have a full bar, and the best margs in town, no lie. The Happy Hour has $1 turkey tacos that are incredible, and the margs are only $3 a pint. Friendly service, great drinks, a fantastic happy hour, the best food, and a great patio.
My only complaint is that the place gets very busy at bar closing time, but it is worth it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Laid back Baja-style Mexican in Breckenridge Mar 17, 2008
In this town you can easily pay $10 for a friggin hamburger. There are a few Mexican places to choose from, but none of them are especially cheap or original. Lucha Colorado Cantina is both cheap and tasty, and even better it is rarely crowded. It's located a tiny bit off the beaten path, at the very south end of town, so it doesn't get the same hotel foot traffic as other restaurants in town. The place is very laid back, servers come and sit at your table to take your order. The Happy Hour is awesome; it runs from 2pm-6pm and has one dollar ground turkey tacos, 2 dollar Modelos Especials and 3 dollar margs. Even when Happy Hour isn't going on, you can still get in and get a great burrito and a beer for under $10. The only flaw to this place is that they sometimes are not especially accurate with their orders. If you aren't very picky, this isn't a problem, but if you are absolutely not into having guaccamole in your burrito, make sure to check it before you take your first bite. My friend got guac in his burrito, which he specifically requested NOT to have, and they brought him out another burrito to make up for their mistake and the second one had guac as well. I for one am not picky, and I love when they mess up my order because they usually give me the mistake burrito for free, which works well for me.
