The plan was to wake up as early as possiible like 7ish at the latest but what happened was 7ish was too early and Phydie must still be snoring at that time that the possible time was turned into 9ish. Phydie's freaking celfone kept on alarming and now matter how long I waited for her to shut it off she just wouldn't wake up. So I had to roll over her, quite suffocating her intentionally, and looked for her bloody fone and found it lying two inches from her ear. I didn't really know how ...

Arriving to our actual Swiss destination

Today turned out to be a fun day full of randomness and spontaniousness! (if that's a real word..) We were supposed to take the Cogwheel up to Mount Pilatus today but when we woke up it was cold, pouring rain, and a little bit windy. So even though we got a discount on the tour because we had Eurail passes we decided not to do it as we wouldn't be able to see any of the pretty views because of all the clouds. So were sitting eating lunch, trying to decided what to do when we decided to use ou...

A tour of Lucerne was the highlight of the day.  The Lion Monument, and the old town area. We could have taken a cable car gondola up to the top of the mountains, but since my wife and I are not to too happy at heights we decided to stay down near the lake. We walked the old town area and took pictures and relaxed the day away. Kind of a nice change.  A snack at the McDonald's consisting of a regular (small) hamburger, one small fries, and one medium coke was $9.20 francs. Luckily o...

Contiki Day 4 - St Goar to Lucerne, Switzerland
posted by:
Jul 04, 2007 - Aug 18, 2007
Today we basically had the whole day to do some sight seeing around Lucerne.  It was a perfect day too! We walked over the amasing Chapel Bridge, and headed towards our first stop, the swiss army knofe and watch shop!! Note: Along the tour, the tour manager would take us to ahops affiliated with contiki. Basically if we bought from there, contiki would get some kind of cut, and apparently we would get some kind of discount...don't know how true that would be. The army knives were great ...

Arrival in Switzerland

So in day 2 the group and I jumped on a train and headed over to the base of Mount Pilatus.  We watched our clocks and, sure enough, the train departed exactly on time.  We jumped off the train and had to buy tickets for a train that would take us up to the top of the mountain.  This particular train is one of the steepest in the world, we were told as we boarded.  Once again, right on time the train lurched forward, taking us toward the top.  There were neat sites on...

Lucerne... The Craziness Never Ends

Thank heavens we're leaving Venice... I'll finally be getting over the weather that's been eating away at me. I just hope Lucerne will be better. I hear that there's some sort of festival going on. Plus, we get to go back to Verona to catch up and see what we missed. It's not a big deal, but it's always good to see new things. I've been getting tired lately, but at least I've been able to treat my allergies or sore throat (whatever it is) with proper meds. Now whatever is left for me to is ju...

Last March, my company sent me to Kruezlingen in Switzerland to work on a project for two weeks. Luckily, I got to work with a really cool Swiss guy who turned my stay into 2 weeks of Swiss tour! :D I enjoyed my "paid vacation" so much that I went back to Switzerland the following week to show my boyfriend around (and try skiing for the first time!). Yet, it still wasn't enough. I need to go back there and ski some more and eat more chocolates. And I will. You bet, I will. :)

Beautiful Lucerne

I got to Switzerland on March 25th.  I was first struck by its beauty on the plane ride over.  We had to circle the airport a few times because there was a snow storm and we could not land.  I could tell even from the air that there was so much to see and I couldn't wait to see it from the ground.  We landed in Zurich, and were able to find our luggauge quickley, after we retrieved our luggauge we went to find were we needed to board a train to Lucerne.  Everyone was ...

I have been 3 times at luzern, always going at the one of our supplier's factory, that's why I can't make tourism for the zone( I work from 8 to 17h ) I miss the Mount Rigi :( Luzern is something stange, It's a city but you feel that you're in a town. On Lucerne the people talks mainly German and could be Italian, so you're advised, no french! I suggest to visit the old town, city Walls and explore them, climb to the Hotel Deutz (Now closed) an incredible forest and sights to the cit...
