Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge bike tour New York Reviews
Fun way to see New York Jun 27, 2011
A fun way of seeing and experiencing the vibrant city of New York is by going to Bike and Roll at Pier 84, just by the Hudson River in the Manhattan borough of Hell's Kitchen, and renting a bike and heading out for a ride on your own or go on one of Bike and Roll's guided tours. I can really recommend the "BROOKLYN BRIDGE & HUDSON RIVER BIKE TOUR" which I went on and loved it. It starts at Pier 84 and takes you on a beautiful tour of Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. The tour starts and passes through the Hudson River Park down to Battery Park and South Street Seaport, then you go over the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn, but only a short ride in Brooklyn which I think could be extended a bit more, and go back to Manhattan on the Manhattan Bridge. When you are back in "the city" the tour takes you into the busy and sometimes very hectic Chinatown. Biking through Chinatown is an interesting experience in it self so pay attention to the guide when you enter this part of the tour and you'll be fine. After Chinatown a more calm ride through Chelsea and West Village takes you back to the Hudson River Park and all the way back to Pier 84 where you started. Along the tour there is several stops at famous landmarks and places which add some cultural flavour to the experience as a whole.
The tour takes about 3 hours from start to stop and the guide was very friendly and made it fun so this is a strongly recommended activity to do when you're in the Big Apple :)
