Lowell is home to the Industiral Revolution, sports teams such as The Lowell Spinners, The Lowell Devils also it is home to UMass Lowell. Back in the early 19th century the textile mills were in full swing attracting many migrant workers to the city. Canals were built along the Merrimack River to power the the machinery used. Today the mills no longer produce textiles but have been converted to Museums, Apartment buildings or are still abandoned.
Lowell was named an all American city and holds many points of interest including the Lowell Memorial Auditorium, Lowell National Historic Park, A State Forest, A Canal Walk, and the Textile Museum. The Spinners and the Devils offer a cheaper alternative to the Boston Teams.
