Low Wray National Trust Campsite Ambleside Reviews
The Perfect Base Aug 15, 2011
I visited here in August 2012 with my partner and stayed 4 nights. Found it difficult to follow the directions at first, but once you get used to the layout of the roads it is quite straightforward. It's in a beautiful location, and from our tent we could watch the sun set and rise on the horizon. The onsite shop doesn't really stock much, but Ambleside is only a short drive away. The facilities are ok, plenty of toilet/shower blocks, and washing up areas behind each. We passed a childrens play area on our walk around the site, and I think they may do canooing activities in the high season. It's a bit difficult judging the entrance/exit - the campsite is split into two with different driveways - and in some parts the roads are quite narrow. Was a delightful trip and would recommend the campsite.
