Louisa's Walk Travel Reviews

Aug 17, 2007
Louisa’s Walk is a historic trek through the life of one of Hobart’s female convicts. From London, where Louisa stole a loaf of bread to feed her children, to her life in ‘The Female Factory’, a nice term to describe a women’s prison.

Two actors take on the roles of Louisa and the men that Louisa encounters on her journey to Van Diemen's Land and in the prison. It is a fascinating story, told with humour and compassion, and is a must if you have an interest in history and/or theatre.

The story is enacted along a route in South Hobart that takes you from Cascade Brewery, to the site of the Women’s Factory and back to the brewery for a complimentary beverage.

Tip: take a brolly as it is all outdoors and the weather in Hobart is unpredictable.

Sunflower300 says: This is another tour for the history buff, however this one is also one for the not so faint at heart. This night tour guides you through mysterious courtrooms, tunnels and gallows in an 1830’s colonial convict building by flickering light. You hear true stories of strange happenings, murders, tri...
