Louang Namtha Vacation Guide

Louang Namtha is in the Northwest corner of Laos fairly close to the border of Thailand. This is town almost reminiscent of the old western towns in the US due to it's large dusty streets and wide layout. The main attraction of this town is that it is a waypoint between destinations in Laos and Thailand.

There are several outfitters in the main streets of town who offer adventure trips into the jungle and to see hilltribe villages. Although it is rumored that these treks are somewhat unimpressive for jungle viewing.

There is a nonprofit organization in this town called Big Brother Mouse. Here you can buy reading books for Laos kids to help bring literacy to the poorer parts of the country. Another great idea is to pick up a few copies yourself and hand them out to Lao children in your travels.
