Lou Travel Reviews

Apr 12, 2007
Lou is a tiny little wine bar/restaurant on Melrose and Vine, located in a tiny strip mall. From the outside there absolutely NO indication about what this place should be. There is a simple lighted sign above the bar saying "Lou", off-centered, in the plainest font possible, and the curtains are drawn over the windows, so you have no idea what is going on inside, or even if it's open. It's about as unassuming as a place can possibly get.

Once you get inside, however, you are greeted with soft loungy chairs and relaxing candle-lit tables. The wallpaper is a weird but soothing black and white forest pattern, which only adds to illusion of being in some place far removed from the strip mall parking-lot outside. Relaxing music plays over the sound system, and conversations are quiet but lively. The staff is really friendly - none of that "I'm too hot to serve you" attitude you sometimes get in LA, and Lou himself smiled and waved at us as we left.

Definitely a great place to go to with a small group of friends to relax and pass the evening, and also one of the most interesting and remarkable places I have discovered in LA.

Parts of the city though seem to appear silent underneath the heavy heavy hysteria of life in the city that makes stars. As Sam Goldman said "God makes stars, it's our job to find them". In the middle of one of those ty...
jenn79 says: The Staples Center is home to the Clippers, Lakers, and many a large concert. I've seen Prince perform there! Seats are plentiful, so you can get cheap nosebleed section seats, or thousand dollars tickets on the floor. Particularly enjoyableif you have friends with corporate box seats, as this amazi...
