Lotus Café Ubud Reviews
Romantic restaurant Jun 10, 2010
The Lotus Café is one of the many restaurants you can find in the centre of Ubud. It is strategically situated on the main east west street Jalan Raya Ubud not far from the crossroad where Monkey Forest Road meets this street at the location of Puri Saren, Ubud's palace.
After entering the restaurant from the main entrance (surviving the dense traffic) you can hear the sound of a gamelan orchestra. A range of coloured wooden tables form the commercial part of the restaurant, with many waiters moving criss cross around them. They mostly serve drinks to the guests, but you can also have a nice lunch here.
However, the main reason to visit the Lotus Café is its setting. The restaurant is nestled around a big lotus pond with the facade of a beautiful temple on the back side. When we visited the restaurant, the pond had gorgeous big flowers.
The temple is called Pura Tamam Saraswati. It's a sanctuary dedicated to the goddess of the arts, learning and wisdom. Although it looks rather old, it was only built in the 1950's.
When in Ubud you should have at least a drink at the Lotus Café.......
