Authentic Mexican Dishes Feb 22, 2009
Los Comales is located in the old Dunkin’ Donuts building at 2103 North Roxboro Street, Durham, North Carolina. The general posted menu is tacos and sandwiches. There is a great salsa bar to jazz-up anything you may order. Caution, some of the peppers are serious hot. The "pupusa" (queso fresco stuffed turnover)are good, the lengua has been very good, the mole sauce is well above average. I have eaten at Los Comales on numerous occasion and I have always left with a smile on my face and dollars in my wallet. They offer all the standard tacos and tortas. I particularly like their Al Pastor tacos. You should consider one of their specials. The seafood soup is a very good choice. It is one of the more expensive items at $12 per bowl. However, the bowl they served it in was sooo large that it feed 3 with at least 2 more full servings in our doggy bag. There was no filler, nothing but crab, scallops, mussels and shrimp. They have great large plasma TVs and if there is a soccer game anywhere, it will be on one of their TVs. Los Comales is right off of US Interstate 85.
