Los Alamos Restaurant & Lounge
Los Alamos Restaurant & Lounge Reviews
Good Food, but the experience is so-so Jul 26, 2008
Los Alamos Restaurant (formerly known as L&Z Restaurant) is located on the northern edge of downtown Brighton. The building it occupies has held a Mexican restaurant for several decades.
The food a Los Alamos is good. It is always attractive in appearance and tasty. Their green chili comes in mild, medium, and hot. The medium is plenty spicy. The meal starts with a complimentary bowl of chips and salsa. The menu has a good variety and is unique to the other Brighton Mexican restaurants, in that pieces (wing, thigh, ect) are offered as part of their combo plates. None of the dishes really stand out. Thursdays are currently Margarita night, and they have a bar where you can sit. They do catering and rent their place out for parties. That’s what I like. What I don’t care for is they have you seat yourself. I just find that unprofessional. On our latest visit, they were evidently shorthanded (I saw two waitresses for about 8 tables) as every unoccupied table (about 10 in view) had the dishes and food from the last guests. We waited, standing by a table, for about five very long minutes until a lady (owner/manager?) came over and bused our table. The waitresses are dressed in their street cloths. The building is a bit run down, and the layout such that you feel like you are eating in a cafeteria. The décor is a combination of Mexican Ghetto meets the Denver Broncos. They also close Sunday-Tuesday, and by 8 PM the other nights. The food is just not good enough to bring the wife and I back regularly. It is too often closed, either limited by their hours or the occasional party. The dining experience usually has a rushed feeling to it. There are just better choices in town. I rate this as my 8th favorite Mexican restaurant in Brighton Part of the Brighton, Colorado--My Home Town travel blog |
