Lord Krishna's Birth Place
Lord Krishna's Birth Place Mathura Reviews
Iconic sight Feb 17, 2011
This sight is the birthplace of Lord Krishna, an incarnation of the god Vishnu, which took place around 5,000 years ago. The place is perhaps the key reason that pilgrims and tourists come to Mathura for.
Despite the important nature of the sight to any Hindu, I must admit that the complex is a bit of a let down. The immediate area is surrounded by guards and security barriers just in case there’s a terrorist threat. The entrance to the sight is very similar, and there are two rounds of security checks to go through. Bags must be left at the cloak room too.
Despite the drawbacks, the sight is worth visiting. Krishna is such a key figure in the pantheon; instead of visiting pretty temples, coming here is rather impressive and much more significant. As Krishna was born in a prison, there is still evidence of this structure and you can still go past the very spot. Considering the event happened 5,000 years ago, I think it’s pretty neat that the spot is still known and well-maintained.
If you are in Mathura and only see one thing, make it this place.
