Be on the loof! Mar 18, 2012
Yes the it is called The Loof. But actually being there means you are on the Roof!

This is one of the earlier sky bars that had opened in Singapore. But the bar is not located at a very high floor (its only level 3) so maybe thats why they decide to call it the Loof instead of the Roof. Low roof = Loof? I dont know, but I have been here many times.

The good news is that they have built a roof at the Loof ;) This place has gone several renovations to vary their sitting options. But the roof serves to prevent their sofas from getting wet and so that people can still come on rainy days. However, it still remains like an open sky bar so you can still get a pretty good breeze on some nights. You get a great view of Raffles Hotel and the skyline behind it!

It plays a groovy mix of music (trance, electro), also serves as a base for those budding DJs. There is also an enclosed section at the back of the bar where you can laze around on the "daybeds" - essentially an enclosed area with mattresses and cushions.

This is a place great for just having a drink or have a snack (they have mini pizzas), catch up with friends, drinks after work. Very laid back atmosphere.

The drink menu consist of beer, cocktails, mocktails, hot drinks. I particularly like their in house mocktail which is a mojito without the liquor (on those nights I need to drive or be without alcohol - very refreshing!

The minus point is the waiters who can be quite dumb. I dont mean to be mean but sometimes the way they mix up your order, take forever to return you your card/ change or keep pestering you whether to keep the tab open can be quite annoying.

Overall, I will definitely recommend having a drink here.

I'll have to write about all my favorite spots in Singapore before making a grand depature to discover the world out there :)

The Loof's a trendy rooftop bar located in City Hall, on the top of the Odeon Towers. From the Loof, get bedazzled by the many skyscrapers surrounding it, and of course, a decent view of the magnificent Raffles Hotel situated just right across the street.

At the Loof, there's a good mix of international cocktails and quirky creations. The beer list's quite decent too for no-fuss gentlement. What's really unique about the atmosphere would be the groovy lounge music and trendy furniture. From the plush sofas, you could also peek into the furniture shop right below the Loof through the transparent flooring. I realized that only after a few visits hehe...

The crowd's pretty decent, with a good mix of local yuppies and expats. Everyone's really there for a good get together since the music's not deafening, and hence, there's no worries of some stranger trying to get close with kinky pick up lines :p

For those who enjoys bar snacks after dunking too much beers, the Loof has a great snack menu and you'll be spared from the usual nachos and chips. I love the fried squid that are served individually on Chinese spoons. A couple of these are really sinful but the crackling sensation's a wonder not to be missed.

The only inconvenience at the Loof would be bad weather. 3/4 of the bar's non-sheltered and on a rainy day, you'd get lucky if you could find a sit.
