Longwood Gardens Kennett Square Reviews
Oh So Beautiful Longwood Gardens Sep 09, 2009
When thinking of visiting a garden I couldn't have imagined the shear size and popularity of Longwood Gardens! This garden is so extravagant it is almost hard to describe..one full of rich history, breathtaking views of pristine flowers, tress and rolling hills that lay on over 1,000 acres. While visiting you might want to block your entire day because once you get there you won't want to leave.
I even suggest bringing a blanket to lounge under a huge tree in the shade and have no worries.
Longwood Gardens was created by the Du Pont family in the early 1900s and has ever since been a magnificent spectacle of a time grandeur. Although the Du Pont home is of a modest nature compared to the Conservatory it is still one of simplicity, advanced technology for it's time and full of history. (check out the website for the entire tale).
Ok here are some facts:
Areas of Longwood Gardens to visit:
1. Du Pont House
(don't forget the Childrens Garden)
4. Gardens - Outside
5. Ballroom and Organ Restoration
Students ages 5-18, or any age with valid student ID: $6
Seniors (ages 62+): $14
Children ages 4 and under: Free
* General admission is a must but keep in mind that there are over 400 events going on thru the year and admission may not be included.
Longwood Gardens has more fountains that any other garden in the US. Not only are they incredible to watch but are timed to instrumental music. There is also a Firework Show that accompanies the dancing fountains (seasonal).
Overall, if the review has at least captured your attention, try the website next..you may be booking a ticket to visit sooner than you know. Worth every penny!
