Longview Vacation Guide
Longview, Texas is a growing city located in E Texas on I-20. The city really lives up to it's tag line, "Real East Texas Living." This means the people are friendly, the pace a little slower and the quality of life is good. The city has some famous residents including country singer, Neil McCoy.
The roads and infrastructure are very good. The loop 281 around town has just been repaved and widen. There is a pretty good local bus service available; you would have to check with city for schedules.
There is a nice indoor mall, various chain restaurants including one of my favorites, Carrino\'s. Lots of national chain stores like Target, Sam’s Club and Kohl’s. There are even more than one Starbucks, with drive up windows. Many houses of worship including the Church of Christ, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist and non denominational churches can be found throughout the city.
Kilgore College has a campus here as well as the private college, Letourneau University. Letourneau has a new venue that hosts many great concerts and celebrity appearances.
The convention center was once a temporary home for many Katrina victims as well the place that President Clinton came to campaign for his wife. It is a very nice place.
