another looooong drive on bumpy roads. The stunning surroundings made the endurance worthwhile though. We drove through green grassy hills for most of the day, and just when I started wondering if the country would be entirely devoid of trees I saw my first tree in Mongolia - and my second - and then a whole forest!! After about another hour of tramping through Laos mud and with no sign of the jeep as yet, we came to a river crossing. Here there was a stilted hut with no walls but a thatched roof under which we could shelter from the rain and rest for a while. Well i have now met the group that i will be travelling with for the next 29 days. although some are leaving us in Singapore and another few are joining us down to Bali. the group seems really nice so far. there is a good mix.
