Around Tallinn (for those who plan to spend in Tallinn a week or more) Jun 11, 2010
On the first lovely sunny day I took a long walk from the Mermaid’s monument near the Kadriorg park towards another monument (Stela) on the right if you are facing the sea. You can walk along the beach stopping to feed white swans then cross the road to the Estonian History Museum. It used to be count Orlov’s residence with impressive entrance and the main building. Museum closed Mon-Tue, but nevertheless the territory always open for visitors. Wondering around I discovered “USSR monument’s cemetery” (behind the palace) where stays or lays several Lenins, one Stalin and other statues and monuments.

I walked through the whole estate and entered the German Cemetery. It’s the open field with one central monument (cross). On the top of the hill situated that white Stela which is visible from the distance, but it doesn’t belong to the cemetery, it’s the monument to 1905 revolution. Good view point and a place for pictures with Tallinn city on the background across the sea.
