Long Island Resort (Australia) Reviews
Felt like paradise Aug 06, 2010
We stayed here for 3 days and we felt like we were staying in paradise.
We had a beachfront room (505) and I loved it. Room with a view, no doubt!!!
The rooms itself had al the necessary facilities and a little patio.
It was about 10 steps to the beach so the beachfront room was worth every penny.
The food in the restaurant (all-in) was ok.
There is a very nice pool and a jacuzzi.
The sunsets are breath taking!!!! We saw a lot of coral to at the front and back beach.
We went kayaking. You can hire them for free.
We took the whitsunday circuit, a walk along the island. Lot's of butterflies and nice views.
The fish feeding is fun to see but even more enjoyable was the bird feeding. Lot's of fun!
The last day we played minigolf and tennis. It was both free so fun activities on a cloudiy day.
When we stayed here there it was very, very, very quiet. We saw almost no people, only in the restaurant a few. It felt like our own private island!
You can reach the island by ferry from Airlie Beach.
This resort is quite expensive when you are travelling on a budget but compared to the other islands in the Whitsundays Long Island is quite cheap.

Long Island Resort (Australia) Overview
Fly into Prosepine (closest airport to Airlie Beach) or into Hamilton Island. From Hamilton Island there are boat transfers to Long Island. Alternatively transfers depart from the mainland at Shute Harbour which is a scenic 10min drive from the centre of Airlie Beach village (a bus makes regular trips from town to the terminal, there is also a taxi rank on the main street). Ferry transfer from the mainland takes only 20minutes. A lovely cruise through the whitsunday passage, home to the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
Quiet, tranquil spot with beautiful views. Accommodation is basic but comfortable and clean, and the general facilities at the resort are of a good, international standard. The resort endeavours to accommodate honeymooners and couples at a separate end of the resort from the families, allowing more space and privacy. MN0309.
