Hah. And you thought this was going to begin with me stepping off the airplane into paradise. If you've read any of my other blogs, you should know better. Nay, my friend, you are about to enter my diatribe, or a taste of the bull-pucky that put more than a few grey hairs on my head before even getting onto the plane. Go ahead... click chapter two and keep your opinion of me untainted. Everyone says I'm lucky because I get to travel so much. First let me say that I've worked hard to be exactl...

The Dubliner is this great Irish Pub in Long Beach, although they have locations throughout Southern California and Arizona. During the day, they serve good food and its a great spot to grab a quick pint. I have been here on many occasions, but the times that are the best are on Saturday nights. Great bartenders, good looking guys, upbeat Irish music to dance to and a great crowd.
It's my good friend, April's birthday and since we had so much fun on my birthday at the Dub, she wanted to cele...

Alice had mentioned that she was meeting up with a young lady that was in the LA area from somewhere up north. I was supposed to go if I didn't make the Las Vegas meetup to say goodbye to Will and Sal (both Las Vegas TravBuddies that are moving away) and party like there will be no tomorrow.
As you can already see....I did not make the meetup.
Late enough Saturday evening....around 9 or 9:30pm Alice gave me a ring. She stated that she did not meet up with the young lady. S...

A good friend went all out on her birthday and we visited Catalina (for many of us it was the first time). And considering I threw up on the way there and on the way back, it'll be my last time =)Beautiful little island with steep hills and golf carts as the primary means of transportation. Also home to some of the best breakfast places around. Or maybe it's just that good, salty air that stirs up an appetite for breakfast food! You know, just like hangovers. It's funny to see schools and stor...

So this morning I woke upearly to the sound of carswizzing by my apartment - well 2 blocks away. We'll skip the part about me going to get my oil change, and the nail in my tire, and get right to whenI bought last minute tickets to therace off a guy from Craigslist.Little did I know, I got a celebrity compound passwith it, for a mere $20. OK, this is it...this is my blog...I will do the best I can to keep it updated from the wilds of Mongolia. They do have internet there, but not sure how reliable it is, and I think it's only in the big cities...and I won't be in many big cities (uh...there ain't many). I'll try to upload pix too...we'll see!
Folks, please feel free to send me emails...even though I'll be on tours with other folks, it's always nice to get news from home! I will pop into an internet cafe ever...

I couldn't believe how many people there were out there willing to dress up their dogs in their Easter best! I also was surprised at how well behaved the dogs were. There was only a few cases of jumping, and barking that I saw. Maybe they were all just so embarrassed at their outfits that their parents made them wear that they couldn't misbehave....but the dogs all seemed to be smiling and wagging their tails, strutting their stuff down the sidewalk. And loving all the attention that th...

Today I took a city bus to the Blue metro line to meet up with fellow travbuddy, carpefunk, in his home town of Long Beach, California. We rented kayaks for the day and started our adventure. I've kayaked when I was younger and it seemed really easy so I wasn't worried about the physical strain of this activity. Then I realized that I had only ever kayaked in a 2 person kayak.... So Kayaking was a lot more difficult than I expected. It was probably the best workout I had all...

Make sure not to miss the Aquarium of the Pacific (minimum 3 hours). Charter fishing is also dirt cheap out of downtown at Pierpont Landing. The Queen Mary. Whale watching. Public tram and aqua bus syatem is great. Southern California has all types of cool areas. I love LA! don't knock it-it would be like visiting New Jersey and judging the entire USA after a visit to only Newark. Welcome to as my dear friend and LB resident calls it "Wrong Beach". It was just right for me

Today has been a busy day. After a 6 mile hike, I went home and packed for a weekend trip up to LA. The main objective of this trip was to go to the Queen Mary Scottish Games. This is not my favorite Highland Games (that would be the Scottish Society Games at the Orange County Fairgrounds in May), but it usually has an event that I think is just to cool. A band I like called Bad Haggis does a show they call Plaidapalooza. It features Bad Haggis and members of the LA Scotts, a pipe...

Heading off the ship takes a bit, I recommend walking your baggage and not checking it the night before. The process will take twice as long and the people who check thier bags have to wait to head thru the customs terminal. We had a four hour drive back to vegas but the port has shuttles and taxis available. My friends and I all needed a couple days to get our bodies and souls back together and to re-coop. We have decided to make this trip an annual event. I would not recommend this specific...

I had a speech and debate tournament up at Long Beach, that required my presence. Spent about 39 out of the 48 hours on the CSU campus, trying to figure it all out! But it was loads of fun either way.
