Away to London!

Day 5, April 3 After a breakfast exactly like the other days', Jesse and I headed over to the train station and found our train to Salisbury with relative ease.  I can't remember how long the ride was, but I guess that means it wasn't too taxing.  :)  We arrived and went immediately to the tourist office in the station, where they told us to quickly run to the corner as a bus to Stonehenge was just leaving! We made it to the bus, which turned out to be one of those double-dec...

London bridge is falling down.

So my friend and I get to London early in the morning ready to explore the city and find out why London is so famous.  When we got to the airport, we wanted to exchange dollars and euros into pounds. The thought the exchange rate was ridiculous! We ended exchanging only 75 dollars and we got 30 pounds. When we got to the Tube in Heathrow, I almost got a heart attack when I saw the price for ONE ride into London. Why in the world would a city charge 4 pounds for one ride into London City?...

I've discovered that double-decker buses hurt when they hit you.    I'm kidding, I did NOT get hit by a bus but I did have a great close encounter with one today.    It's odd that the only thing keeping me from getting really comfortable in this city so like my own is the fact that traffic flows from the opposite side of the street.  It seemed like an inconsequential oddity when I first got here.    Then I almost got hit by ...

A few days in London
posted by:
Oct 16, 2006 - Oct 23, 2006
back in October I tripped back across to London to meet up with James. The first night in London was in a stinky London hotel and James having jet lag needed to 'rest his eyes' at 7.30 and ended up sleeping the whole night away. The next day we got up and saw all the sights bridge, big ben, westminster, palace, and had a fun time feeding all the squirrels in the parks. They would jump up you legs to get the food out of your hand. Then we had to meet my friend Fiona and with technology trouble...

London, England (second time) ~2007: London Travel Photos

Loved the UK so much I had to go back again for another dose. Did the same things as last time (be sure to check out that blog's pics because I'm not going to be repeating them here). Only difference is that this time I also went to Hampton Court. I would definatley recommend it as a day trip to get out of the hustle and bustle of London if you have the time.

British Airways

I took a plane from LA to London, then London to Accra, Ghana.  It takes about 11 hours to London, and another 7.5 to Accra.  The best meal on British Airways is the Asian Vegetarian meal.  They serve a relatively good Indian meal, complete with chapati and a sweet dessert.  I hate airplane food, and I usually try to sleep through meal time, but this one is actually alright!  Maybe it just tasted better because I knew it was going to be the last decent meal to b...

London, England, UK

My final day in the UK.  I was pretty sore from the long hike yesterday in Bristol, but that didn't keep me from walking miles & miles today too. Main points:  1) Abbey Road Studios.  The graffiti on the wall & gates was actually quite interesting.  It's amazing how one group could touch such a broad/global demographic, actually it was quite inspiring.  Paul McCartney had just turned 64 a week earlier, so naturally there were plenty of variations of "W...

Our last real day of the tour began with, gosh, a bus trip! Haha.  A short trip to Blenham Palace for an hours tour. Again inside we were not allowed pictures. It's a beautiful building and the grounds, gardens and statues are wonderful. Like all Palaces in the United Kingdom the gardens are maintained on such a schedule that they always look like they were done 10 minutes before you got there. The interior was so nice that we bought a book in the gift shop so we would have someth...

Flight....part 2
posted by:
Mar 30, 2006 - Apr 16, 2006
Well our vacation is over!  We are sitting in Heathrow waiting to find out what gate our flight will be leaving from.  This is one of the busiest (if not "the" busiest) airports in the world. It is so busy, they didn’t even know what gate we were going to be boarding at…and that was 2 hours before our flight was scheduled to depart.  So we sat around the duty free shopping area (I am sure that was the whole point) until about an hour before we were going to be leaving. ...

I realised as i only started doing this journal in Nov, that i missed out the very start of the trip.  And looking at the map everytime i log on makes me think, oh wait a minute didnt we fly thru Canada.. yet the map suggests we flew from London.. which isnt possible.. well not yet anyway.  So i feel i have to update this information, and write about what went off at the airport the day we left for Costa rica Via Toronto Canada.. Well given that before i had ever done this trip, al...

London 2008 Day 1: Close call with Scotland Yard & Its happy hour for us, not the bartenders!-Matt

We reached London within 50 minutes and took the tube to Leicester Square. The National Gallery was just 2 blocks south of it and Matt and I initially thought we were lost. Actually, it was Matt who insisted that we were lost. As we crossed the park, we noticed a crowd of people congregating in front of a movie theater. It was the world premiere of "Sex in the City" in London! There were several cops in the area and barracades were set up for crowd control, I guess. Neither Matt nor I were in...

My grandparents live in a small town about an hours drive north of Alicante in SE Spain, I usually visit two to three times a year but havent since July of last year due to work, i had 3 days off at the beginning of October so booked a cheap ticket on EasyJet to go see them. Id been off sick for 3 days before due to an unfortunate accident, induced by flyers fatigue (a condition suffered by flight attendants who have no concept of days, dates, times and who can fall asleep at any moment...

I wake up at 4.45 to my alarm of Britney Spears ´Piece of Me´i didnt choose it honest, its just the loudest song on my phone and is always guaranteed to wake me up by scaring the crap outta me with the loud opening beats. I quickly get dressed and ready, i knock on my parents door to make sure my stepdad is awake, he pulled the short straw of having to drive me to the airport. We arrive in good time at Gatwick airport around 6.30am and he drops me off, Gatwick is really convenient fo...
