The cold on the first day in London was disappear since I stepped here, Bangkok my home town, again. Not more than 5 minutes, I sweated! 14 hours different, also the temperature from 8c to 34c !   Don't know when I got a chance to wander around the world again. I've heard a lot of my friends spoke about London that it's nice. Was wondering why do some of my friends choose only London for their holiday each year? But after I've been there, even just a short trip but I ...

Oh my goodness.  I'm so frazzled.  I don't know how I've been packing for 3 days and there is still so much to pack!  I'm pretty sure I'm going to be hit up for excess baggage fees.  I'm certain I've accumulated alot of stuff since my 11 boxes of shipping was sent.  My room was echoe-y when I sent the shipping and its not now.  I need to curb my hoarding ways. The taxi is booked and paid for... £75! How can it be so expensive?  Anyway it arrives in 4 hours t...

Another awesome TB night out.
posted by:

I had been looking forward to this night for ages. Not because Matt was leaving but because I'd get to go on the piss with a great bunch of people. I got to the River Bar on Tower Bridge Road at just after 7. There were already a few familiar faces there. Shortly after I got there we moved down to the cellar bar where there was a bit more for us all to mingle. It was a crazy night and so much happened I can't write about it all. We stayed in the River Bar until we got thrown out. I have no id...

An Orwellian Nightmare Arrive at heathrow. Hug hello with Ma & John. Feels like a both a blink and a lifetime has passed since we said Goodbye in this same place. Physically shocked by the cold night air. John puts on car seat heating. Roads out of London seem quiet and orderly, like they're functioning under sedation. Drive out on the M4 into the country. Rural landscape is even more eerie:  barren, muted & deserted. Feels post -apocalyptic. ...

In the afternoon, Nikki, Nikki’s friend from home, Megan, Daniel and I went into central to go shopping and walk around... in the rain. :)      We fell upon an event in Trafalgar Square (not unlikely) for what was apparently “Africa Day.” Lots of music and speakers, booths selling food and trinkets... what a great city London is to have such frequent cultural celebrations.     My friends and I went our separate ways and I went to see...

Last day. My stroller/wheeled bag was still broken and I have two huge and heavy bags to carry with me plus one more shoulder bag. I had to carry them all by myself. I was close to tears everytime I try to walk with them. I was hoping that the cab driver would help me carry them up to the coach station but the cab driver that I got had a leg surgery so he couldn't really walk yet. The frustrations remained up to the airport when I had to pay 53 pounds for excess baggage. Please don't tell me ...

A gloomy day in London

I've been trying to upload my pictures but for some reason there seemed to be an internal error so I can't upload most of it.  I will just write this blog since I have time off from work and everything is still fresh from memory. After a tiring night flight, we finally arrived in London @ six in the morning and a temperature of 5deg C =D (I love cold weather!!) We were so tired that we decided to have a couple of hours rest before hitting the streets.  We are staying at P...

My most humiliating (in a humorous way) moment in London I think was when a very rough looking, bad smelling homeless person approached me on the street and asked me if I had a fag to spare -- you see at the time, to save money, my ever frugal Scotsman husband purchased loose tobacco and taught me how to make my own "rollies" as he called them, and I'd roll a few in advance and keep them in my backpack in an old Benson & Hedges box. SO, anyway the bum mu...

Spent the night at Gatwick airport and awakened to a huge mob at the check-in terminal, literally thousands of people waiting in line. Apparently a huge plot was just uncovered to blow up planes from London to the USA on the very morning I am taking a flight from London to the USA and things here are crazy. After 5 hrs I was able to check in. Supposedly the highest terror alert the UK has been on. No carry-on luggage is allowed on any flights. Anything I wanted to ca...

The most part of the day was spent playing the typical tourist in London atop a double-decker bus. My mom wanted to revisit the usual places since the last time she was here was about 20 years ago, which worked fine with me as I wanted to phototgraph them and equally so because her poor footsies would not be able to last a full-long walkathon. So around we go hopping on and off wherever we pleased and leisurely enjoyed the city. My mom was also able to book us a walking tour of the So...

Mind the gap. London – one big melting pot. Millions of people. Tourists and newcomers. Everyone is welcome!     One March Sunday I was strolling around London. Equipped with my off-peak traveler card and the underground map I knew there were no limits :). North and South, East and West – anywhere I desired the tube would take me.   This time I hanged out in Bloomsbury and Fitzrovia – the centre of literature, art and studying. From the early 1900s this place was as...
