Camp Stansted and cheap way to London. Aug 31, 2010
The cheapest way I found to get from Stansted to London is to book a seat with the easybus company ahead, which can be as little as 2 Pounds one way. (If you book ahead for a really long time that is.) But a month ahead it still was just 6 pounds, which is comparatively cheap. The bus drops you off at Baker Street, right in front of a tube station. The picking up point in London was a bit hard to find for me, since its somehow on the other side of the station.
The good thing about these tickets is, that they are valid upto an hour before and after the time you booked. The bus itself is a bit small and the drive takes about an hour.
Then there is what I call CAMP GATWICK, since plenty of people sleep in Gatwick Airport to be able to catch the early flights without booking a hotel nearby. All along the ticket counters there were people sleeping. The airport is open all night. You get woken up by around 5:30, when the staff arrives. But it was bearable, if you bring a sleeping bag especially, since there is bathrooms and quiet. There is also a burgerking and a supermarket for breakfast... so if you are young and broke, this could actually be an option.
