London Marriott West India Quay Reviews
A disappointing 5-star hotel May 31, 2014
For a 5 star hotel, the Marriott at West India Quay is a waste of money.
Firstly, the only reason you'd want to stay here is if you're coming into town for meetings in Canary Wharf - as other than office buildings, the area has absolutely nothing in the way of tourist activities.
But you'd already know that if you were checking out this hotel to book so let me get to more specifics.
Whilst the room and bathroom do provide great luxury that you'd normally expect from a 5 star hotel - the overall service of this hotel is atrocious. To put this into context:
- They charge you £6 an hour for Wi-Fi (in this day and age, it just seems so mediocre for a hotel of this reputation to be charging for a basic facility such as wifi)
- Ordering room service would have somebody come and dump a food tray at your door rather than the 5 star norm of a trolley brought into your room.
- It took me ages to get any sort of service in the restaurant downstairs
In a nutshell then, all the fixtures and fittings make it a 5 star hotel (albeit the hotel's swimming pool is actually in the local area gym across the street), but the service you get for your buck makes this hotel best avoided.
