London accomodation is expensive. 'Cheap' hotels are in the 50-100 pound range, which, particularly with the dollar exchange rate, isn't likely to be considered cheap in many other places.
In terms of hotels, the Comfort Inn Notting Hill is the best deal I've found (see www.lth-hotels.com) and its a brilliant location (literally a few yards from the London underground station). However, you'll be lucky getting any change from 1,000 dollars for a week's stay. Hostels are cheaper, but don't know enough about them to recommend (they should be listed on expedia.com). Even then you're going to be paying 25-50 pounds (or roughly 50-100 USD per night at the moment). |
