Hiking the Loma Verde trail in the Rincon Mountain East District Mar 13, 2010
This is an easy two hour hike in the scenic area of the Cactus Forest Drive. The trailhead is on the Cactus Forest drive. Desire and I decided to hike the Loma Verde trail following it to the failed copper mine and climbing up the pink hill to see the spectacular view of the entire Saguaro wilderness. The trail too us to the base of the Rincon Mountains and back to the Loma Verde trail. It was a pretty easy climb. The total hike is 2 hours and runs about 3 miles.

We began the hike at about 1:30 with a group of other hikers totalling about 15 in all. Along the way we crossed a creek with the view of the Rincon mounains, Desire and I stopped because I could not get her to move on without playing in the water a litte. We then had to play catc-up since the group had moved quite a head of us, we caught up pretty soon and went on for about an hour before Desire decided we need a break. We took some photos of the mountains and cacti and even saw a jackrabbit along the way. The sun was high but not that hot and it was to our backs so we were able keep a decent pace throughout the hike.
