aaaaawwwww one of the coolest places e v e r!!!!! Jul 17, 2012
a cool version of an historical museum based on the reconstruction and archaeological excavation of a Viking chieftain's village on the island of Vestvågøya, in Lofoten Islands in the Nordland county of Norway. It's located in a small village called Borg, near Bøstad, and you can see it right of the highway!

what an amazing experiance, just to drive the main Kong Olav road of Lofoten and see that amazing enormus viking house on top of that beautiful green hill.. wOw..

The long-house has been reconstructed slightly to the north of the excavation site. In 1995, the Lofotr Viking Museum was opened.

The museum holds the building itself (which is worth the trip by itself) , the museum hold remains found at digging sites , a movie of the tribe or collon that lived there and a bit of history teachings on who the vikings were.

Next to the museum there's another big big house , where you can see the living vikings at an everyday life! some use tools , some make musical instruments , some make fabrics , some play.. you can try on the helmets ,shields and swords to apreciate the weight and the strength a worrior should have.

after that you can take a short walk to see the panoramc view of the small towns surrounding and the small fjord , or you can take a 202 km walk (if i remember correctly) toward the boats..

on the way to see the viking ships (which you can actually climb on and peddel on a good day , there is a small "firing" range where you can practice with a bow & arrow or try throwing an axe to the target , a small caffe and of course the viking ships..

at the end , you can't help but spend money at the gift shop..

i loved it! i loved every minute in that place!
