Loeffler-Weber Haus Fredericksburg Reviews
A Historic Bed and Breakfast built in the 1800s Nov 24, 2010
This historic bed and breakfast was built in the 1800s. Compared to an ordinary house, it is much smaller, but the room is spacious compared to regular hotel rooms.
Located on Main street in Fredericksburg, it is a tourist attraction more than an actual functioning hotel, even though it is in full function. One bedroom with a fireplace, a kitchenette, and a spacious living area. It reminded me of a rustic country cabin. They even have a heart shaped bathtub in the yard, interestingly so. This bed and breakfast is listed in the National Register of Historic places of America.
The history of the cabin has it that Gerhard Rorig built this cabin as shelter for himself during the first winter in Fredericksburg in 1846. Later on a local cabinet maker,Johann Loeffler, added the rock & half timber rooms & cooking fireplace around 1867. His son-in-law, J. Charles Weber, added the lean-to on the side. The house stayed in the Leoffler-Weber family for 90 years until George & Gloria Hill bought the house & restored it.
