Locarno is a nice city in the canton Tessin where the weather is mostly better than in the rest of Switzerland. It's located on the lake "Lago Maggiore".
In the city you find the Piazza Grande. This is the place where the international film festival happens. For a short time the Piazza Grande is without traffic.
An important object of interest is the church Madonna del Sasso. It's built on a hill and from there you have a great view.

2-day trip to ticino. morning train via domodossola to locarno, up to the verzasca (james bond) dam, then locarno for the film fest, outdoor screening of bourne ultimate in the piazza grande, overnight in lugano, hiked up mt san giogio, back to geneva sunday night via olten and neuchâtel.
