Locanda Silva Hotel Venice

This review is late in coming, as I stayed there in June of 2005. I still have the receipt! From what i remember of the hotel, I felt the location was fabulous. Just a short walk to Piazza San Marco, as well as shops and I believe a fruit stand. I stayed two nights in a single room overlooking a rooftops of the neighboring building. It was 50 euro per night (single room without bath), which I felt was a good deal for staying on the island. This charge did include a breakfast... yogurt, toast, coffee, juice. I think cereal was available too. I just checked their website, and it seems their price has gone up since then (60 euro). I found the Hotel easily enough, by taking the water taxi to San Marco, and hoofing it the rest of the way.. through the square, to the left of the basilica, past some shops, down a very narrow ally, to a small canal. Sharp left and you are there. easy.

The reception was very helpful. I had forgotten some important allergy medicine back in the states, and they were able to receive a fax for me of what I needed so I could get it while abroad. They did not charge for the transmissions.

The rooms were clean and quiet. It was quite hot in mid June. and the rooms have no AC, but do come with a fan. Opening the window and using the fan worked well, but did let in mosquitoes, which can be annoying.

I would go back again. I liked the location. However, I do like exploring new places, so maybe I'd try staying on the other end of town.
