Lo Sole Mio Omaha Reviews
Family Owned Italian Restaurant May 15, 2010
One of the first places that I heard of to eat in Omaha for Special Ocassions was Lo Sole Mio. It was reserved for special ocassions not because it was overly pricy but rather because it prided itself on the full restaurant experiences including multiple courses. It was traditionally elegant.
The restaurant has grown over time and expanded. Some might argue that some of the charm has been lost but the same family still runs the place and I think they still have the niche.
There are no reservations taken here. You must be there to be put on a wait list to be seated. And you most likely will wait. At the same time, you will not be seated if you are missing any of your party.
Once seated, water glasses are filled and bread is brought out along with a tomato basil offering that is suggested to use along with baked garlic with the bread. The combination is so good that I could easily eat that for dinner.
Eventually, salads and soup are introduced ahead of your entree selection. If you grant any form of attention to your salad, soup or initial bread offerings, you have no chance finishing half of your entree. The portions are notoriously large and take home containers are assumed.
Members of the owning family will visit your table before you leave and are sincerely glad that you made their place your choice.
