Llyn Gwynant Campsite Reviews
Great get away for exploring Wales Jul 11, 2006
In 2006 I stayed 9 weeks at this campsite (July and August), Llyn Gwynant in Wales. It's a big campsite and you can put your tent where ever you want to. There are no marked out pitches.
Close to the entrance are the bathroom facilities. Not really great, but not to bad either. Unless you are scared of spiders and hate them. There are many in the showers. Unfortunately the showers don't always have hot water... Toilets are clean.
There is not so much space for doing your dishes or washing your clothes and people can make a mess out of it... Next day it's clean again.
There is no electricity at the campsite. Only in the bathrooms and the reception cabin. If neccersary you can charge your phone or other batteries here.
Next to the campsite is a big lake, Llyn Gwynant with a few small beaches. Be careful with swimming in the deep. There is a lot of stuff growing.
The campsite guard (or how do you call the guy) makes sure it's quiet after 11pm. Campfires are allowed in special iron bbq's.
From the campsite it's easy to do a lot of hikings and go up Mount Snowdon, visit the villages Beddgelert and Port Madoc or Betwsy Coed. A little further is the beach. In Llandudno you can go bowling and walk down the pier.
I really liked this campsite. But don't put your tent in the open field or next to the (small stream of) water. Weather is really unpredictable in Wales. And when the weather is bad, you better hide some where safe.
I've seen many destroyed tents by the weather that summer.
