Llanquihue Lake Nov 25, 2013
Lake Llanquihue is one of the largest lakes in Chile. It is made by the glaciers coming down from the surrounding mountains and volcanoes. Lake is surrounded with incredibly picturesque like of volcanoes led by beautiful Volcano Osorno. Everything around is pretty wild and you can easily feel that if people leave for couple years everything would go back to nature. Some camps that we stopped at area already becoming just a part of the land with greenery eating the human made stuff. Beaches are super black which can be expected from the volcanic area. Few cities that surround the lake are a bit more touristy (such as Puerto Varas) but generally speaking it is wilderness.
