Lækjarbrekka Restaurant Reviews

Lækjarbrekka Restaurant Apr 27, 2008
An absolutely wonderful restaurant! The dining areas are beautifully decorated and the staff are all very pleasant and friendly. While we were there, we dined on puffin as an appetizer, and I chose whale as the main course since I knew that I would never be able to eat these items back in the US. The whale tastes a bit like beef, but does have an acquired taste to it. The puffin was delicious. All of the food, though, was excellent. The restaurant is conveniently located close to the main shopping areas, and is definitely not to be missed while in Reykjavik!

I love this place! The people were so kind, they stayed open late for us and did it with a genuine smile. The food was delicious (except the whale) I have to get used to it, or not. The atmosphere was perfect, with the decor, the music, the service all top notch. They even created a special dessert for us that was not on the menu. But if you do chose something from the menu, know that they put great care in every dish they make. I absolutely loved this place!

We got here just as they were closing up. They graciously seated us next to a window with a view of everyone walking around getting blown away by the wind.
The dishes were gorgeously prepared. And it tasted fabulous. Michael went for more exotic, eating something he couldn't have at home. As late as it was, we were never rushed. I never felt like they were eager to get rid of us. They still offered us dessert and again, no rush. We had several people serving us, all very friendly and hospitable. I wanted to clap my hands and see how many of them would appear at the doorway. Oh, yes, the doorway... we had the room all to ourselves, and they never intruded on us. They knew just when to check back with us, and when they came with food or drinks or just to check on us, they were so courteous. Can you tell I like this place? If you are looking for some romance in Iceland, this is a great place to go!
I got the veggie plate! lol

Interesting, I never pictured Iceland as being romantic, even though I really do want to go there. But, now that it is getting so cold, I am tempted to change my mind. ;)
But the restaurant sounds great, even if one is not romantically inclined. ( I am about as romantic as Shamu)
