Double Deck Living Root Bridge, The Mother Of all Bridges Sep 26, 2012
These amazing structures is located in the remote place of NE India, Meghalaya(The Abode of Clouds) and about70km from the Capital city of Meghalaya. These structures have no pillar with concrete or any other building materials. It's simply build by weaving the roots of a tree to the other side of the river Rapids to form a bridge commonly know as the Living root bridges. These bridges are oftenly use by the villagers as mean of communication to connect with the next motor-able village to get their basic necessities. The famous among these structures is the Double Deck Living root Bridges(see pix)

To get to see these bridges one has to trek downhill at an incline slope of about 60 to 80 degrees through 3000+ stairs, through a rugged footpath and suspended bridges.Mind you the trek itself takes about 2hrs downhill and 3hrs+ uphill and its not for the faint heart.Family with Children below 12yrs are not advisable to do this trek.Best time of travel is during the winter months but Summer is equally good but the treks is very slippery and wet but one thing is you get to see the whole portion of hill literally covered by waterfalls.
