Litton Lane Hostel Reviews
hostel=ex studio of u2 and sinead o'connorclose to temple bar :) Jun 07, 2009
To me the greatest thing when looking for accomodation is to be cheap and very central..i mean..isn't that the best?..so that's what this hostel was about..and i booked only like 3 days earlier..i think conditions depend on the number of beds in each room, but the atmosphere was pretty cool..very student/traveler..i mean it's great for those kind of people who just drop by for a nap and then they are out visiting and partying again..And Dublin is full of irish pubs obviously, just over the river..:)

Had a different experience at this hostel, which could be more of a function of the people who were staying here at the time. Most of the other guests were pretty anti-social and just sat in the common room fiddling around on their laptops. One of the staff members was fairly rude and dismissive of our questions (it turns out it was her last day working there -- maybe she just didn't care?). Another staff member (from Sweden) was awesome and cool, but overall it was a mixed bag.
The security of the place seemed quite suspect. The hostel is located in a small alley. Upon returning back one night, we saw a random person urinating in the alley. One of the girls who was staying here also had her passport and wallet stolen. On the plus side, it was in a decent location, close to the city center/river. |

I visited Dublin in 2005 to celebrate a friend's birthday. We found this hostel was ideal as it is very cheap (for Dublin), very well situated for the (admittedly touristy) nightlife in the Temple Bar area, and has bags of character.
The staff are friendly, the website is informative and the rooms are clean and comfortable. It's your standard backpackers' really, done exceptionally well. Built in a converted recording studio (whose walls have reverberated to the early sounds of U2, Van Morrison, Thin Lizzy and that O'Connor woman), it features a mix of single and double rooms, as well as same and mixed-sex dormitories for sleeping 8-10 peeps. Downstairs you have a TV/Reading room, WiFi internet access and a reasonable guest kitchen. In the dining/common area is a pool table, which provides a good focus for starting your night off. Dublin is expensive for most things, drinks included, so why not pop across the road to the supermarket, stock up on some cheap plonk and meet some new travelling friends beforehand? There are plenty of reviews for in and around Dublin - I though this place deserved a shout for it's great service and admirable location. Yes, Dublin can be a mess the morning after, as can many cities. Lourdes it ain't, but you knew that anyway. |

Arrived pretty late, so we went straight to the hostel. We booked a room at Litton Lane Hostel for 15.50 euro per night. The staff was great, but they had this weird key card system, which had to be renewed every so often or you get locked out of your room.

We arrived in Dublin and checked into our hostel. We walked into the common room of Litton Lane Hostel to see what was going on and encountered a handful of Spainards all entranced by the glowing of their laptops. They barely looked up to register our presence. Didn't look like it was going… Arrival in Dublin, Gaelic Football Championship Match |
