Wow! What a great weekend :) We headed out to Lisbon on the smallest plane I've ever been on (19 passenger jet).  On our approach we had to circle the city and we saw the entire coastline at sunset-pretty cool! From there the Rehfeld's took us under their wing and gave us such a great weekend! Thursday night was a visit to what will be known as the 14 Brazilian Meats. Every 15 minutes or so the owners would bring out two or three new types of steak or ham for us to consume.  The bes...

Lisbonne est une ville vibrante!Je suis arrivee a Lisbon vers 13 heures et mon auberge est fantastique! Evidemment, la moitie des residents sont des Australiens en voyage, ils sont vraiment partout! J-ai beaucoup marche dans la ville avec Paul, mon ami Australien. Notre auberge offre a chaque soir un delicieux et genereux repas a 5 euros qu-une Mamma Portuguaise vient preparer ici. Nous profitons donc allegrement de ces repas fastueux et gentils pour le budget.les rues sont tellement tortueus...

As we were deciding to take the train from Madrid to Lisbon, we were offered the choice of our own overnight cabin or a shared one.  With my luck, if we were to get a shared cabin, it would not be with Inga and Gretchen of Sveeden, so we elected to get a private cabin.  We left at 11pm we were sleeping just fine, till around 1am when this bitch just starts knocking on our door, in a rush to get in.  I'm struggling to wake up and open the door at the same time, in the dark....sh...

Within two years after I returned to Canada from my tramp around the world, I had itchy feet. A summer trip to the arctic wasn't going to cut it, but I also knew I would have to figure out a way to fund my on-the-road ambitions, and so I decided to get certified as an English as a Foreign Language instructor. Today we visited the town square in Lisbon.  There were cute little shops, but nothing that caught my eye too much.  We did however take a ride in an elevator to the top floor (seventh floor) of a tower from which you can see across most of Lisbon.  It was beautiful.  I didnt get too many pictures though because it was a bit windy and we were so high up that I was a bit afraid of losing my camera in a strong gust of wind.  The group I was in somehow go separated from ...

For the next phase in my Parkbenching adventures, I decided to go back to the part of the world I consider home: Morocco... with side trips to Spain and (yoohoo! new country!) Portugal...

Although after finding our way around the public transport system again and then finding our hostel it actually wasn’t too bad, it was probably about 7am when we got to the hostel outside of central Madrid.
