A very artistic hostel Nov 22, 2009
Simply FANTASTIC! One of the best hostels I've ever visited.

+ : location, cleaness, staff very friendly, included breakfast very rich and tasty, artistic rooms and environment.

- : no lift, no drawers in room where to put in my clothes (I was in a twin)

a very fine hostel Dec 26, 2008
In the heart of Lisbon’s Baixa district lies the Lisbon Lounge Hostel.

This is an absolute top hostel!

First of all there’s the location. Right in the middle of the Baixa, which itself is right in the heart of the centre of Lisbon.

The Baixa is mostly a shopping neighbourhood so fairly quiet at night, but about 15 minutes walk from the old fado-soaked district of Alfama in the east and the party district of Bairro Alto in the west.

This makes for a relaxed place to come back to after a wild night.

The hostel itself is just the kind of place travellers who are out to meet other travellers want to end up in. There’s the common room that makes the beating heart of the place. Here people meet and talk to each other over a beer or wine available at the reception right next to it at democratic prices. Check out the chandelier made of plastic cups.

The rooms are simple, with the classic double bunk beds in rooms of 4, 6 or 8 beds. They are cleaned daily like the rest of the hostel.

The electronic keys can be a little difficult to use, several attempts may be needed to open the doors.

Shower and toilet facilities are squeaky clean and very modern.

Breakfast is quite copious with many different tastes of juices and jam. The whole day the well equipped kitchen is available for people who want to cook for themselves.

In the evening there is a full meal available prepared by one of the Hostel’s chefs. It’s 8 euro and well worth it. The food is excellent and fresh and it’s a great way to meet with other guests. The kitchen has one big table but it might be too small to seat everyone when the hostel is full.

Another good way to meet guests and get an introduction to the city is to tag along on one of the tours they organise every Tuesday and Thursday. It starts at 11am and takes in most of the city’s sights like the castle and a tasting of Port wine. It takes about three hours, depending on the group, is free and you can go your own way whenever you want to.

A very fine hostel indeed.
