Lipica Vacation Guide
Lipica is the home of the world-famous Lippizzaner horses. Located 7km west of the drab railway-junction town of Divača near the Italian border.
The Kobilarna Lipica (Lipica Stud Farm) was founded in 1580 by the Austrian archduke Karl II. It's where the white Lipizzaners -- the majestic horses of the famed Spanish Riding School in Vienna -- originated.Today, Lipica is a world famous recreational centre with a hint of tradition, offering its visitors unforgettable moments of relaxation. Enjoy the unspoilt nature, riding lessons on the back of amazing Lipizzaners, ride through the Lipica park in an elegant horse-drawn carriage, visit one of the oldest stud farms in the world and the permanent gallery of August Černigoj which features a collection of his most remarkable works of art, or watch the beautiful Lipizzaner horses dancing to music in the classical dressage riding performances.
The Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua is a pretty little chapel that is located on the grounds of the Lipica horse farm and is visited as part of the horse farm tour.
