Excellent experience Nov 08, 2013
My friend and I went on a camping safari to 4 parks in Tanzania with Hamza (guide) and abdllah(cook) in October 2013. This is my third time am using Lipi Adventure,It was one of the best experiences of my life. Hamza is a fabulous guide; passionate about animals, and extremely knowledgeable about everything!! Abdallah bent over backwards to make sure we had great meals, catered to our tastes and needs. He and Hamza treated us like queens and made sure we had the experience of a lifetime. Hussein was gracious; helped us book flights to Zanzibar, stored our luggage then had it delivered to us and set us up so that we could relax during a 5 hour wait in a beautiful lodge near the airport. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a safari company. Ask for Hamza!

Mahale mountains National park and Katavi Accessibility Nov 28, 2011
After many month of digesting my last 4years very expensive trip to Mahale combining it with Katavi National park i decided to ask for a budget offer from my ground handler.

I went on safari October 2011 in Tansania this time having a lot of time and on tight budget , i am happy now to share my experience in this forum.

Arrived at Kilimanjaro airport late by Klm took tax to Flamingo hotel, i knew this hotel through my ground Handler based in Arusha. I gave myself a full day to organise things on the ground. I popped in at the office and asked if i can travel to Mahale from Arusha without flying and my organiser said its possible but it would have been better if i could stand his expenses for the trip to Mahale at a cost that i could afford and we agreed he should proceed with the organisation so here is all what happened was

A morning bus was booked from Arusha to Kahama it took nine hrs but thanks to the weather it a bit bad because a lot of constructions are under way between Kiteto and Singida its promising that some few months to come this road will be complete and the travel will be smooth am sure. on arrival at Kahame went at Patmo lodge , its a budget self-contained guest house clean and safe we were all the way with our organiser and did all what we were undergoing.

Another tackle was from Kahama to Kigoma here the experience was a bit different it was raining and the roads are under repair in many occasions were pulled our of mud by the construction tractor(caterpillar) in between Igunga and Nyakanazi junction we had the escort of police and area through the malagarasi forest . So basically security in that are now is excellent. We arrived late in Kigoma because of the weather and the conditions of the roads but all was fine and this was exactly the african life i wanted to persue. Apart from the way i went to Kigoma i learnt that i could get to Kigoma by flying to Mwanza from Arusha then to Kigoma or fly from Arusha to Dar then Kigoma or Fly direct from Arusha to Mahale without seeing the western city ( Kigoma) the difference is all the other ways could cost us very many dollars while all the way from Arusha to Kigoma didn't cost us 200usd

We had three alternatives for getting to Mahale from Kigoma

1, There is Mv. Liemba from Kigoma to Mahale leaving every Wednesday and coming back Sunday

2.You can book a private transfer to Sigunga it will cost 300usd through simbo via Ilagalla ferry, while sigunga you can either The boat taxis (Kigomakigoma) Speed boat to Mugambo and Later to Bilenge.

3.At ujiji the saratoga bus runs chains of fibre luggage boats, it cost 10,000tsh from Ujiji to Mugambo and later to bilenge

We had time and wanted to experience nature, i Asked Hussein we take a bus from Kigoma to Sigunga it costed us 10, 000Tsh per person and while at Sigunga we took aboat tax to Mugambo , from Sigunga to Mugambo by boat taxis was 12hrs and costed us 6000Tsh. And finally we were at Mahale. Mahale is perfect place for a holiday it has the park, the beach a very nice combination.

My other amazing experience was from Kigoma to Katavi, after coming all the way from mahale back to Kigoma the next day was a bus from Kigoma to Mpanda where we organised to hire a safari van did the Katavi and after dropped to Sumbawanga by sumri bus for our way back to dar by Bus

All this arrangements and cheap visit to these amazing parks and very cheap way would have been possible without the much help we got from Hussein Mgungah of

This is a sight that over 70years …

Mahale and Katavi on Budget Jan 13, 2011
After a thorough study of all the travel forums and researching for information about Mahale and Katavi we finally decided to travel with Lipi Adventure Company who were very communicative, Very cheap and very informative

In all the forums that i read in over the internet all those who recommended Hussein said he had time for his clients which was just very important for such a difficult circuit

We did a "western circuit" in Tanzania (Mahale and Katavi NP) with Lipi Adventure in December of 2010.

These places are beautiful, but hard to reach, and this is not a standard route taken by many tourists and, therefore, the logistics could be, at times, quite difficult to handle. It was discouraging to have read in most of the reviews that precision air was operative but just to find only Air Tanzania on the run however Hussein of Lipi was there with us, and his local knowledge and expertise saved our trip when our planned transportation option to Mahale (MV Liemba) turned out to be unavailable and the new one had to be found.

It was like a miracle driving overland just along the lake shore for over 180kms south of Kigoma we lastly ended in sigunga where we were pick by Tanapa speed boat named Mv. Ali Choki which gave us a ride to Bilenge the headquarters then transfer to the bandas which was our accommodation option, The bandas were beyound expectations good enough we did our own cooking and another good thing was the surprise visit of the chimps at the Bandas even before we went to the Forest for them

Hussein is a saint and i fail to understand why he has all this kindness to his clients, He did not promise to be with us in Kigoma but we met him there too when he left us in sigunga he said he was heading back to Dar by bus but amazingly we met him on arrival in Katavi the same Hussein welcoming us for the great Katvi adventure when we asked him why had all that time for us he said it would have been better all things go wrong in his presence so that he can sort them direct on the site other than after the safari bearing in mind the difficultness of the circuit therefore was with us in Katavi giving us his undivided and sincere personal attention on a daily basis. Driving from Katavi to Kigoma 8hrs with guide Hamisi was a very nice adventure, the roads the forest and the land scape quite amazing

He also was fully engaged when on our way back from Kigoma to Dar our flight was seriously delayed by Air Tanzania. The Manager for air Tanzania promised Hussein who was leaving now to Dar by bus the next Day that we would leave the next morning but he kept on saying the plane wasn’t yet until the next day when Hussein sent us taxi driver who picked us for the airport without the information of the manager whom we met him there checking in some other clients for the same flight Hussein had confirmed from Dar

I at last agreed that Hussein deserves all the praise the previous client gave him especially the American young man Lenny Teytelman who did him a website after a good trip to the same circuit, He deserves it

Thank you, Lipi for the memorable trip.
