Linschoten is a very small village in the middle of the so-called "Green heart", a country-like space between the "randstad" cities (Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague). A bigger town nearby is Woerden, on a distance of 3 kilometers. It takes just 10 minutes from woerden to reach Utrecht, the largest city nearby. Linschoten is a very peaceful, quiet place, with around 3000 citizens. We have a protected "inner-village", including the church and a few (very) old houses and some farm-houses.
There's much countryland to enjoy here with -especially in spring- many birds to spot. There's also a small "forest" (Linschoterbos) with a caslte within. Some days this castle is open for visitors.
The "Green Heart" is famous by visitors for it's open character, especially around Linschoten. However, this is going to change -unfortunately. The cities Utrecht and Woerden have big plans to enlarge their city boundaries, at the cost of an open, green area. Many people aren't happy with these developments, but the governement thinks, that large cities and highways have to be on top of everyone's list.
But, you can still enjoy the Dutch countrylife in our village. Especially for the ones who are interested in old buildings, quiet places and a beautiful counrtyside. There are many things to enjoy!
