West Auckland stopover Jun 13, 2009
This is a nicely laid out Hotel and is just 10mins drive from central Auckland.
From where we were delivered to the reception and greeted with smiles from the receptionist and the Porter to the layout of the rooms. Nice bed, nice bathroom, Sky TV, everything we needed was there; except I had to ask for an iron to prepare my shirt for tomorrow. They produced the iron (and the board) immediately though. After we'd gathered the rest of our team we decided to go to the bar for a beer and to watch the All Blacks play the French on the big screen. “Bar 159” is part of the complex and is out near the street. It had several screens scattered about the walls and we were all able to catch up and watch the game. We were to have a meal together but the game had thrown a spanner in the works. Still, we were able order food from the Icon Restaurant next door (but still part of the Lincoln Green complex) and enjoy it here. The food was very nice but I don’t think the way we dined did it justice, especially when the regular Saturday night band started playing at 9pm. I recommend you go to the Icon restaurant and bar and sit down at a proper table to enjoy your meal –especially as the All Blacks lost the test match to the French. That aside, all in all the whole experience got two thumbs up from me. Part of the Coffee and Crocodiles travel blog |
