Lin An Tai Historical House & Museum Taipei Reviews
Cultural house that is sadly often missed by travelers Apr 12, 2012
Lin An Tai is a beautiful traditional house steeping full of culture, and a good peek into a rich man's house of the 1700's. The house was built with a southern Fujianese-style courtyard (Fujian is a province in China), and has beautiful, sloping Chinese roofs, and based on a design that dates back to the Qing dynasty.
The front yard is paved with red stones and there are pillow-shaped stones, gate pillars and hollows at the doors, all carved from a one-piece stone.
Lin An Tai has a landscaped courtyard with a layout of buildings, waterscapes, artificial hills and plants, all reflecting ancient chinese's multidirectional views of nature and life (i.e. very fengshui driven).
Flowers grown all have their own symbolism, e.g. peoney (=wealth), lotus (=self respect) etc.there is a small lotus pond as well.
For those travellers who had already seen all the famous sights and attractions of Taipei, Lin An Tai historical house is a nice little culturally rich afternoon sojourn!
