Lifefood Gourmet Miami Reviews
Good Raw Food Miami cafe Mar 14, 2011
Lifefood Gourmet is a very casual raw food lunch café. When you walk in, it has the cheerful look of an old small town, main street store building converted into a health food store/lunch place with its potted plants, large serving bar or counter, and small tables and chairs strewn around the place. You order your food off the large menu above the serving counter, and you either pick it up when it’s ready, or one of the workers gives it to you. The Colombian born owner, John Schott, is surprisingly young looking, and helpful in explaining the menu, ingredients and creative methods used in raw foods preparation. I almost got the pizza but in the end I had the burritos ($12) that came with a side salad and the Goji Blast shake ($11). So, as one can see from the prices, it wasn’t an inexpensive lunchtime meal. But, I was impressed that even though nothing was cooked, it still had the taste of a Mexican dish, albeit a very fresh and healthy tasting one. There was also a large amount of food on the plate that I somehow managed to eat without a problem. The shake too was incredibly delicious, as it should be for the price. So, all in all it was a good introduction to raw food, and a welcome break from eating out on the road at the usual restaurants. Too bad it’s not cheaper.
Recommended for the health conscious, the vegetarians, and the curious.
