So it's not yet even 8am, I'm feeling the lack of sleep, and I arrive at Schaan-Vaduz. Liechtenstein was a beer fueled insparation, a couple of Fridays before I left that still seemed a good idea the following morning. Maybe not now :-O. It was raining and the cloud was down to the base of the moun…

Got bored this morning and decided I wanted to go for a drive...but where to go? I've been to almost every city in normal driving distance, and kind of felt like making today's trip something special. Did a quick distance check and realized that if I left by 9AM, I could be in Vaduz, Li…

Like I said before.. It's a really small country, but there's a lot to see. We went to Grauspitz. Grauspitz is the highest mountain in Liechtenstein, on top of it, you'll have a great view of the countries next to Liechtenstein (because it’s the smallest country in Europe).
It was very cold arou…

Ah Liechtenstein, the alpine valley with a thousand delights. Hidden away in a tiny valley (just 6km by 24km) between Austria and Switzerland, poor Liechtenstein is sadly neglected. No airport, the inter-city train that crosses the country doesn't bother to stop and even the princely family of Liec…

We disembarked the train at Schaan which as like I said earlier, like Buchs, in the flat part of the valley surrounded by mountains. So we wandered around Schann, to be honest nothing special here. Just a small town with very few shops which the main road of the country goes through. At the set of …

If you are travelling from Austria to Switzerland you might hit a lilliput country...Liechtenstein. One of the smallest independent countries in the world is not much more then a dot on the European map. A dot which offers a beautifull mountain scenery and seems to be by the first look just another canton of Switzerland. But it's not, even if these two countries have a lot in common.
As for me it was a place worth to discover by itself.

Monday. A nice breakfast awaits us downstairs, there I immersed an egg in boiling water in a french fryer type holder, and hostess suggests timing it for 3 minutes, well, it was runny but good to have an egg for a change. We made ham and cheese sandwiches for later, grab an apple and pear, and wer…

Well I finally made it to Lichtenstein... Yesterday was mostly a travel day, nothing much exciting happened. I drove from Bayeux back to Le Mans, and returned the rental car surprisingly intact. :-) From there it was a train to Paris, and then onto Switzerland. As I was waiting for the …

Day Four - Saturday 8th August 2009
It just rained and rained and rained. Driving along the autobahn from Montreux to Zurich, it just rained. I never drove in such conditions before. I never knew rain like this before. I had the window wipers on full speed, but it was still difficult to see out of…

We left Switzerland for just a little while, to go into Liechtenstein, one of the smallest countries in Europe. I think it might be the fourth smallest, after the Vatican City, Andorra and Monacco. Upon telling people from home that I was going there, they didn't believe it existed…

We woke up early, we planned this day to add a new country to our travel list. From our campsite it was about 60km to Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. We had to stay on the local roads because we didn't had a autobahn ticket, but the local road leads us parallel on the highway to Vaduz. The onl…
