I spent a month studying marine biology in the Fiji Islands. Visited the islands of Viti Levu, Ovalau and Yasawas.

The bus from Nadi to Suva was a four hour trip, that wasn't too bad. Got  a window seat, so was able to get a nice breeze. The coach was $12. On arriving in Suva it was raining and I couldn't be bothered to wait for the Ferry Bus (mistake 1), so I got a taxi. I said that I'd like to go to a hotel near to where the ferry leaves for Ovalau. Ok - he said $50 but could I do him a favour - he wanted to go to his house to fill up with diesel, I said yes (mistake 2). I had a funny feeling that he w...

after a very long trip from Rome we get to Nadi (Viti Levu) where we start a combination of three cruises (3,4 and 7 days) for 2 weeks in the Yasawa and North-eastern Islands. A small ship (Cpt. Cook cruises), not so many passengers (30-70), great crew, very nice and different travel companions (some trouble with thei accents...) and really warm and oen local villagers. Weather at times problematic (wind, waves, rain) but mostly good. Very relaxing. Beautiful undersea scenery!
