As every article has told us, the recent European elections were a sweeping victory for the centre-right and the far-right across Europe, and the left are tongue-tied. By naming a few examples you can show the socialists losing seats in power and in opposition. But is this actually a fair character…

I never stayed in a Leuven hotel before, as is logical since I live here myself. But there are some locations that are very authentic due to their history or setting, and some others of which I heard really good comments by friends. So those are the places listed below. For a complete list of all ac…

This was my first time in Leuven and I had really enjoyed the walk in the city. Some of my colleagues came from Leuven and many of the others had studied there and as a common denominator they all talked very positively about this city. One of the first persons I talked to on this site Kim was also…

The city of Leuven is the capital of the province of Flemish-Brabant, and perhaps best known throughout the world for its magnificent architecture, it's internationally renowned University and last but far from being least, its world famous beer. Although Leuven suffered heavily under the two World…

I thought this was quite telling with regards to the Belgian approach to hierarchy:"The parking policy at the academic side of the campus is based on the following principles. - Professors with the degree of “gewoon hoogleraar” (full professor) or “hoogleraar” (professors) get access…

I was hoping I could do both Waterloo and Leuven on the same day but had to settle for only one. I chose a University town, don't know why. The day started off as usual - got up early, had cereal and eggs for b'fast. I sure love how we have free internet in the hostel! From there, left for Leuven a…

I walked around Leuven at dusk yesterday night. Sunday night is the quietest night of the week in Leuven, since students are only just arriving, and not really partying yet. You do see an awful lot of students dragging their luggage on wheels across the cobblestones.

In a couple of days I will graduate from college, and as a little reward for myself I've decided to go on a trip to Italy. This is part of a larger plan to visit the interesting places nearby that, for some reason, I haven't been yet. It is customary in Belgium to go on a culture-trip to either …

education, politics and society. The back-lash against this is still
being felt, even through the Flemish are now more numerous and
richer. One of the side-effects of the official recognition was…

I had hoped that I had the possibility to leave my work at noon but my meeting had dragged out so it had become 16pm before I could leave the city centre and the garage where I was parked. Leaving Brussels at 16pm on a Friday is not the best time if you want to be somewhere fast. I turned on my GPS…

Leuven, Belgium is where I lived for a few months when I first moved to Belgium.
It's a pretty cool little city with a happenin' centrum (especially for how small the town is). But then again, it is pretty much a college town.
Party on!!
