Great tours around the hidden short-cuts Apr 12, 2009
To show Elle around Leuven we booked ourselves on a Leuven Tourist Office tour. For only €2 we had a two hour walking tour of the city, just two guides and the three of us. The guides were really well informed and would tell us long stories about any buildings or statues that we asked about. In particular, our guide was great at pointing out the tiny public parks and statues that are hidden in the colleges of Leuven, such as the small forest within van dalecollege (at Naamsestraat 80) or the Chinese astrolobe within Atrechtcollege. Despite living here for months and having actively sought out all the nooks and crannies, I was pleasantly surprised to find yet more delights in Leuven that I had walked past many times. I didn't feel bad, as our guide told us that half the people living in Leuven didn't know about them (including the other guide, who discovered the small forest with us for the first time).
Technically the tour is only meant to be in Flemish or French, but the guides didn't mind giving it in English. Part of the Life in Belgium travel blog |

You can find more information on these from the Tourist Office, which is couple of minutes from the railway station. I picked the bike up and headed off for Crupet. Right on the outskirts of Dinant another festival was going on. Great music, drinks, food and lots of french speaking beautiful Wallonian girls ;). One thing… Day 2 - Dinant - Crupet Trip |
