Brasserie Georges is an institution in Brussels Jun 28, 2009
Just a stone's throw from the Bois de la Cambre, the Brasseries Georges is a real seafood specialist and besides that an authentic Parisian brasserie. With its Parisian-style setting, Brasserie Georges is an institution in Brussels for anyone who enjoys seafood dishes or traditional dishes along with a nice Belgian tap beer.

The tables and chairs are in traditional bistro style and the silverware and condiments in real silver. Tiled floors, wood detail on the walls and yellow hued lighting from the stained glass windows add to the charm of the establishment. The waiters are knowledgeable about everything; fish mongers, wine experts and they are dressed in the typical style of French bistros. Service is quick and efficient, and don't forget to try their nice little starters (smoked salmon or foie gras).

The menu contains eveything; a complete sauerkraut, preserved duck, garlic potatoes, cassoulet, roasted pork, "lyon-style" sauted apples, Chédeville sausage with white wine, steak with Guérlande salt and bearnaise sauce, roasted veal meatloaf with olive oil mashed potatoes. When you ask for French frites they will ask you in which fat you want them fried. Besides this they have also a good wine list.

Oysters and other seafood are served year-round; I must say that I will almost always go for the seafood.

In nice weather a patio is available for outside dining, but you have to book in good time. Brasserie Georges is slightly high-end so you're looking at 40 euro per head but it is definitely worth it!
